Every New Year promises renewed hope and new opportunities. This New Year isn’t any different. With a contentious election season behind us, and some sort of political clarity on the horizon, the state of the country and economy appears set for a positive turn.
Here at BONSAI Design + Build, we are gearing up to push into an expansive 2025 with renewed sense of inspiration, motivation and opulence. As such, we would like to take this opportunity to reintroduce our firm, our scope of services and our unique approach to delivering quality Architecture.
BONSAI Design + Build (BDB) is an Architect-Led Design + Build (ALDB) firm, established in 2013, providing quality and turnkey Architecture + Construction services to clients in the Denver Metro area. BDB was established as an ALDB over a decade ago, positioning itself within the already niche and cutting-edge Design + Build marketplace, and further distinguishing itself by bringing a different level of professionalism to the industry as an Architect who can also construct its own designs. This project delivery method offers several advantages over traditional design-bid-build or the contractor-led design-build processes. We will write more in the future about the unique advantages to this project delivery method, but in general, ALDB offers; Cohesion in integrated design and construction, Improved communication in a single point of responsibility, Design innovation and innovative solutions, Cost and time efficiency due to early cost estimating, Quality control, Personalized services, Proactive problem solving, and lastly, a Holistic approach to sustainability and efficiency.
Sustainability is a big word and can mean many things. As it fits to Architecture, it is critical path to human development and prosperity as buildings represents the majority of energy consumption in or on all U.S. buildings. Given this fact, we approach the Sustainable Architecture issue by way of designing and building in a High-Performance way. This means that our Architecture is designed and built to a higher standard than the common building code. Utilizing the Passive House standard, these basic building science principles can be utilized in a wide spectrum, client and budget dependent. When successfully applied, our Architecture promises to be more healthy, comfortable, quiet, durable, affordable and energy efficient. The basic idea being any energy put in to condition will not leave a tight and well assembled building envelope, thus minimal energy input required.
As an ALDB, we can offer stand alone concept design and budgeting services for a fraction of the cost of hiring a traditional Architect or General Contractor. Because we are an Architect, we can break out the concept or Schematic Design (SD) phase of an Architects traditional scope and offer it as a stand-alone service. In addition, because we are also a General Contractor, we can inform the concept design with preliminary budgetary numbers. This gives you a holistic understanding of your project and what it will take to execute on the vision.
Beyond this, as an Architecture Firm, we can offer traditional stand-alone Architecture services from pre and Schematic Design, through Design Development, Construction Documents (CDs) and Construction Administration. Should you already have a set of CDs that you wish to have a General Contractor estimate, we offer preconstruction services in cost estimates, scheduling and constructability review.
